Pharmacy: the heart of our community

Community pharmacies are healthcare providers located at the heart of communities, close to where people live, work and shop. They play a vital role in society, and are a hugely important part of the healthcare sector in England. Like GPs, pharmacies are a part of the extended NHS family. Anyone can visit their local pharmacy to access medicines, healthcare advice and a range of other health services.

Around 1.6 million people visit the c.10,400 pharmacies in England every day. But did you know that 90% of most pharmacies’ income comes from dispensing medicines and providing other NHS services? Learn more about community pharmacy below.
