Medicine Supply Notification: Ramipril 1.25mg, 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg capsules
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a medicine supply notification for: Ramipril 1.25mg, 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg capsules.

- Ramipril 1.25mg, 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg capsules are in limited supply until the end of October 2026. Note: a Medicine Supply Notification (MSN) and Serious Shortage Protocol (SSP) were issued in April 2026 for the shortage of ramipril 1.25mg capsules and the advice remains live on the Medicine Supply Tool.
- Ramipril 1.25mg, 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg tablets remain available but cannot support uplift in demand.
- Alternative ACE inhibitors and ARBs remain available; however, routine switching is not recommended as usage is significantly lower than that of ramipril, so could risk compromising other supply chains.
A copy of this medicine supply notification, including supporting information, has been sent to all pharmacy NHS email addresses.
DHSC and NHS England have launched an online Medicines Supply Tool, which provides up-to-date information about medicine supply issues. The contents of these MSNs can now be viewed on the Tool.
The Tool also details any changes to resupply dates and updates to the entries.
