Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a medicine supply notification for Sodium valproate (Epilim Chronosphere^®) 50mg, 250mg, and 500mg modifiedrelease granules sachets sugar free.

• Sodium valproate (Epilim Chronosphere^®) 50mg modified-release granules sachets sugar free is out of stock until late August 2026.
• Sodium valproate (Epilim Chronosphere^®) 250mg modified-release granules sachets sugar free will be out of stock from early July 2026 until early January 2027.
• Sodium valproate (Epilim Chronosphere^®) 500mg modified-release granules sachets sugar free is out of stock until end of September 2026.
• Sodium valproate (Epilim Chronosphere^®) 100mg modified-release granules sachets sugar free remains available but cannot support an uplift in demand.
• Sodium valproate (Epilim^®) 200mg/5ml syrup remain available but cannot support an uplift in demand.
• Alternative sodium valproate products remain available (see supporting information: Table 1 (hosted on the SPS medicines supply tool.)

A copy of this medicine supply notification, including supporting information, has been sent to all pharmacy NHS email addresses.

DHSC and NHS England have launched an online Medicines Supply Tool, which provides up-to-date information about medicine supply issues. The contents of these MSNs can now be viewed on the Tool.

The Tool also details any changes to resupply dates and updates to the entries.
