Community Pharmacy England and LPCs complete representation changes
A series of documents have been published by Community Pharmacy England, following discussion of many of the key points and themes at regional meetings with pharmacy owners this summer.
The briefings talk pharmacy owners and LPCs through key aspects of our strategy and workplans for the current year, and set out how levy monies have been invested to support key projects underpinning all of this work.
A further briefing gives a final update on all of the areas of work identified by the Review Steering Group (RSG) and taken forward as part of our Transforming Pharmacy Representation (TAPR) work programme. This includes the implementation of the findings of the independent Governance review that the Committee commissioned, on which a separate briefing will be published later in the year.
The briefings precede publication of the 2023/24 annual report which will set out the accounts for the last financial year, as well as considering strategy, governance, the impact of our work and the outlook for the coming financial year.
While the TAPR briefing will be the final specific update on that programme, we will continue to share information about all aspects of our work through our extensive communications and engagement work, and to publish information on our finances via our annual reports.
Commenting on the publication of the documents, Community Pharmacy England Chief Executive Janet Morrison said:
“The Transforming Pharmacy Representation workstream has been a huge and important programme of work for both us and LPCs. The governance changes, strengthening of our negotiating capacity and other changes are all critical to the future of community pharmacy, and our Committee of pharmacy owners will continue to drive these improvements.
“This work is all ongoing, with our Governance and People subcommittee meeting early in the autumn to consider the composition of the Committee, followed by our Meeting in September at which the full Committee will oversee all negotiations and other work. We will continue to report regularly on all our work via our usual communications channels including our annual reports and the briefings published following each Committee meeting, and to seek wider sector views via regular polling, events and other engagement work.”
