What is NHS login
NHS login is the NHS identity and authentication service. It allows people to securely prove who they are and access approved NHS digital services using a single set of login details.
Using one login helps reduce the need for people to create and manage multiple accounts when accessing different NHS services. It can also make it easier to access health information, manage appointments, and use NHS digital services.
NHS login is used by the NHS App and many other NHS-connected services.
How does NHS login help
A trusted digital identity service can help:
- make it easier for people to access NHS services online;
- reduce the need for repeated identity checks across different services;
- improve the user experience when moving between digital health services; and
- support secure access to personal health information.
For community pharmacy, NHS login can help support the development of connected digital services that work more seamlessly with other parts of the NHS.
What does this mean for pharmacy digital services
Community Pharmacy IT Group (CP ITG) has encouraged IT system suppliers and digital service developers to consider integrating their patient-facing applications with NHS login where appropriate.
Using NHS login can provide patients with a more consistent experience across different NHS-connected services and may reduce barriers to using digital healthcare tools.
As the NHS continues to develop digital services, including plans for greater integration of health records and NHS App functionality, the use of NHS login is expected to remain an important part of NHS digital infrastructure.
