AMS virtual event now on-demand

THIS CONTENT HAS NOW EXPIRED

Community pharmacy contractors can now access an online recording of the antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) virtual event, which was hosted by the Public Health England (PHE) English Surveillance Programme for Antimicrobial Utilisation and Resistance (ESPAUR) team on 30th March 2021.

The webinar focused on shared learning from community pharmacists who have been using the TARGET antibiotic checklist and other AMS tools in community pharmacy. The checklist and other AMS tools were highlighted as resources in the PHE Antimicrobial stewardship for community pharmacy e-learning and e-assessment, which all patient-facing pharmacy staff were required to complete as part of the AMS criterion* in the 2020/21 Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) Part 2.

ESPAUR has sent out a letter and two copies of the AMS checklist to community pharmacies, which should have been received through the post.

* Due to the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England and NHS Improvement agreeing to PSNC’s request for more flexible timings for completion of the PQS work, contractors have until 30th June 2021 to meet certain domains (if they have declared as having met them) and to collate the evidence to demonstrate that they are compliant with the requirements. Domain 1 – Infection Prevention & Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship, which the AMR criterion is a part of, is one of the domains which has the extended deadline.

** Please note you will have to fill in a short form to access the webinar.
