DHSC consultation on hub and spoke dispensing published
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has today published its consultation on the proposals to enable all community pharmacies to access hub and spoke dispensing. The consultation is due to run for three months and will close on June 8th, 2022.
The consultation seeks the views of stakeholders operating within the community pharmacy sector on key areas, including patient safety, governance, transparency, and accountability, and includes proposals on two different models of hub and spoke dispensing. PSNC’s Regulation and Support Team will respond to this consultation in due course. Once published, this response will be available on the PSNC website.
The Government has previously committed to pursuing legislative change to enable community pharmacies to benefit from hub and spoke dispensing models to support pharmacy efficiency savings and release capacity for pharmacists and their teams for tasks other than dispensing.
For more information on hub and spoke dispensing, please read PSNC’s briefing on the subject, which is available here.
