A new Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Drug Safety Update (Vol 16 Issue 9 April 2023) has been published and includes articles on:

• Isotretinoin (Roaccutane▼): new safety measures to be introduced in the coming months.
• Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors: new measures to reduce risks of major cardiovascular eventss, malignancy, venous thromboembolism, serious infections and increased mortality.
• Nitrofurantoin: reminder of the risks of pulmonary and hepatic adverse drug reactions.
• Letters and medicine recalls sent to healthcare professionals in March 2023.
