Services: 31st March and 5th April deadlines

Community pharmacy contractors are reminded that a number of services and Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) deadlines are approaching; this news story provides a summary of these deadlines.

Pharmacy Collect service ends

Contractors are not legally able to distribute free NHS test kits to citizens (and will therefore not be paid for any further distribution of test kits) after this date.

Claims will be accepted by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) via the Manage Your Service (MYS) application until 30th April 2022; this includes any distributions made in February 2022 that contractors may not have claimed for at the beginning of March 2022.

Flu vaccination service 2021/22 ends

Contractors should not administer any further vaccinations under this service after this date.

Claims will be accepted by the NHSBSA using the MYS application within six months of administration of the vaccination or by 31st August 2022, whichever date is earlier, in accordance with the usual Drug Tariff claims process.

Catch-up New Medicine Service (NMS) ends

Contractors should no longer offer catch-up NMS after this date.

 

 

Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) IT contracting arrangements end

The national provision of NHS CPCS IT solutions ends. From 1st April 2022, contractors are responsible for securing a new contractual agreement with an assured IT supplier of their choosing.

Payment for the Essential service element of the Pandemic Delivery Service ends
Deadline for the requirements to update the NHS website and DoS profile

Contractors need to have verified and, where necessary, updated their NHS website and DoS profile between 1st January and 31st March 2022.

Stop smoking campaign ends

The mandatory Better Health quit smoking campaign ends. Contractors can therefore take down the promotional materials for this campaign from 1st April 2022.

Contractors are also reminded that the Secretary of State emergency declaration allowing the flexible provision of pharmacy opening hours and closures under the NHS regulation (2013) ends on 31st March 2022.

5th April 2022

Please note, the below table does not include information on claiming for Advanced services that continue to be commissioned and that need to be claimed for by the 5th day of the following month, for example, NMS, CPCS or the Hypertension Case-Finding Service as this is ‘business as usual’. Contractors should continue to claim for these services as normal using the MYS application.

Deadline for claiming for the Pandemic Delivery Service (Advanced service) as this service has now ended The last claim date for the Pandemic Delivery Service (Advanced service) must be made no later than 5th April 2022 to be remunerated for any deliveries made on or before 5th March 2022 (when the service ended).
Deadline for claiming for catch-up NMS as this service has now ended The last claim date for activity for catch-up NMS through the NHSBSA MYS application must be made no later than 5th April 2022 as the catch-up NMS service ended on 31st March 2022.
Deadline for claiming for NMS for them to be included in a contractor’s NMS count for the gateway criterion of PQS To meet the Advanced Services gateway criterion, contractors are required to have claimed payments for the completion of a minimum of 20 NMSs between 1st April 2021 and 5th April 2022. Any claims received by NHSBSA after 5th April 2022 will not count towards meeting the PQS gateway criterion.

 

Pharmacy owners are reminded of the requirement to complete the 2023 workforce survey, which is a mandatory requirement for all pharmacy owners. The survey will close on Sunday 17th December 2023.
