Description
This service is being provided by pharmacies across the Cumbria and North East, within the following LPC areas:
- County Durham & Darlington LPC;
- Cumbria LPC;
- Gateshead & South Tyneside LPC;
- North of Tyne LPC;
- Sunderland LPC; and
- Tees LPC.
The purpose of the Community Pharmacy Emergency Repeat Medication Supply Service (PERMSS) is to ensure that patients can access an urgent supply of their regular prescription medicines where they are unable to obtain a prescription before they need to take their next dose. The service may be needed because the patient has run out of a medicine, or because they have lost or damaged their medicines, or because they have left home without them.
This agreement is for the scheme to be available during all pharmacy opening hours and will cover the period from 21st December 2016 to 11th January 2017.
Update:
NHS England Cumbria and the North East has taken the decision to extend the service in order to support patients whilst NUMSAS is mobilised in the area. The extension of PERMSS has been approved from 12th January 2017 until 31st January 2017. From 12th January 2017 only patients referred by NHS111 are eligible for this service. Walk-in patients, from 12 January 2017 are not included.
