Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued paper FP10 prescriptions

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) will begin using paper FP10 prescription forms for all outsourced prescriptions issued by MoD medical facilities. A small-scale trial started from 24 November 2025 at six MoD sites using their usual outsourcing pharmacies, ahead of wider rollout in early 2026. Further information is available on the NHSBSA website.
Prescription charges and receipts
MoD personnel who pay for their prescriptions may request a till receipt to claim back any NHS prescription charges paid. MoD personnel will need to be clear that they are requesting a standard pharmacy till receipt rather than a FP57 receipt and refund claim form. Using the pharmacy till receipt as proof of payment, MoD personnel should request a refund of any prescription charges paid from the MoD directly rather than through the pharmacy.
NHS pharmacies can only provide NHS prescription charge refunds to patients who are provided with a FP57 receipt and refund claim form at the point of dispensing, provided that the patient is able to provide valid proof/evidence of entitlement to exemption from NHS prescription charges. For more information on NHS prescription charge refunds see our related resources below.
Submission of MoD-issued FP10 prescriptions
MoD-issued paper FP10 prescriptions should be submitted along with the other FP10 forms to the relevant NHSBSA pricing division. There is no requirement to separate these forms unless specified items are ordered on these prescriptions which must be wrapped into the relevant paid or exempt red separators as part of the end of month prescription submission process. For more information on red separators see our related resources below.
Funding
All MoD-issued prescriptions will be funded by the MoD directly and not from the pharmacy contract sum.
