2024 mandatory workforce survey is now open

NHS England’s 2024 Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey is now open.

Completion of the survey is a mandatory requirement for all pharmacy owners.

The survey opened on 16th October and will close at midnight on 11th December 2024.

How to complete the survey

The 2024 survey maintains a consistent approach to the 2023 and previous surveys, focusing on the number of staff, the number of full-time equivalents (FTE) and any vacancies in each of ten staff categories employed in community pharmacy.

One new question has been added that asks about members of the pharmacy team who have trained as pharmacy technicians but are not registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. The question previously posed on the ease of filling vacancies has been removed.

As with previous surveys, the data will be collected through two different methods:

  • An online survey; or
  • Via data collection at Head Office level through an Excel spreadsheet.

The NHSBSA has sent emails to pharmacies asking them to complete the online survey.

For those pharmacies that do not receive an email from the NHSBSA, such as multiple pharmacy groups, it is likely your head office will submit data on their behalf, but if there is any doubt, check with head office.
