Discontinuation of Nystan® 100,000units/ml oral suspension (ready mixed) (Vygoris Ltd)

Pharmacy teams should be aware that the brand Nystan^® 100,000units/ml oral suspension (ready mixed) (Vygoris Ltd) 30 ml has been discontinued and is no longer available for community pharmacies to order.

Zydus Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd has introduced a generic version of Nystatin 100,000units/ml oral suspension, which is available to order from wholesalers.

Please note, where a prescriber has issued a prescription for the brand Nystan^® 100,000units/ml oral suspension, pharmacy teams are advised to contact the prescriber and request a replacement prescription for the generic Nystatin 100,000units/ml oral suspension.

Furthermore, Specialist Pharmacy Service advises pharmacy teams to check, when ordering, that the correct product is selected on systems i.e. generic Nystatin 100,000units/ml oral suspension instead of the brand Nystan^®.

Community Pharmacy England is aware that the current selling prices for the generic Nystatin 100,000units/ml oral suspension are above the indicative reimbursement price in the May 2025 Drug Tariff (£1.80 based on NHS list price of Nystan^®). Community Pharmacy England has highlighted this pricing issue to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), and we will keep you informed as soon as we have a response.
