Hub and spoke consultation outcome

The Government has confirmed the next steps following its consultation on hub and spoke dispensing in community pharmacy. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has proposed two models which it believes will increase efficiency and free up pharmacists’ time for more clinically focused tasks.

Our Director of Legal, Gordon Hockey, said:
“Hub and spoke reform is long overdue and we are pleased to finally get an indication of the Government’s plans for this. However, much still needs to be done to develop a model that works for community pharmacy, and we are already working with DHSC to consider the implications of these changes for NHS dispensing in England.”
