Stoptober is back
Did you know that if a smoker can quit for 28 days, they are five times more likely to quit for good?
The Stoptober campaign is back* and launching its mass quit attempt which runs until 31st October 2023. The campaign has helped over 2.5 million people to make a quit attempt since the campaign’s launch 12 years ago.
The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘When you stop smoking, good things start to happen’. A new nationwide survey showed nearly all (95%) ex-smokers see positive changes in their life as early as two weeks after quitting, including having more energy (45%), feeling healthier (42%) and improved breathing (42%).
A range of resources are available to support promotion of the Stoptober campaign, which can be downloaded from the Department of Health and Social Care Campaign Resource Centre. Resources include digital posters, social media assets, web banners, graphics for digital screens and campaign toolkit containing key messages, stats and facts and long/short copy for newsletters and websites.
*Please note, this is not a mandatory health campaign topic, but pharmacy teams can choose to get involved in the campaign if they so wish.
