NHS login
Published on: 8th October 2018 | Updated on: 7th April 2022
NHS Digital have enabled a single system for verifying the identity of those requesting access to digital health records and services, to authenticate people for access to information about themselves and those they care for. NHS login will support future NHS Digital national programmes, local initiatives.
Currently, patients continue to access health records through a variety of local and national online systems. Because different systems require users to verify their identity in different ways, some patients report gaining access to multiple systems can feel complicated and time-consuming.
NHS login as a single trusted identity verification system intends to make it simpler for patients to access digital records and services and to support more informed health and care decisions.
NHS Digital are working with the public and others to refine the identity verification standard and process. It uses the Citizen Identity platform but is known as NHS login. NHS login is used within the NHS App.
Community Pharmacy IT Group (CP ITG) has encouraged suppliers, pharmacy reps etc to be aware that app developers should be asked to integrate with NHS login. This could make the apps which patients use more usable for them.
