Media Training for pharmacy owners

24th June 2024 7-9pm

Online (please register for access link)

Community Pharmacy England, in partnership with consultancy Luther Pendragon, is offering media training for pharmacy owners following requests for this.

Raising awareness of the work community pharmacies do and the challenges they face is an essential part of Community Pharmacy England’s work and something that the whole sector can get behind and support. We are continuing to seek regular national media coverage of the pressures that pharmacies are facing, supported by Local Pharmaceutical Committees (LPCs) and others.

As well as hearing data and the outlook, journalists like to hear directly from a wide range of pharmacy owners, including those who do not sit on national Committees or Boards, to get a sense of things and help show the human side of a story. We know that this can be a big ask for those not familiar with talking to journalists: this media training will help empower you to do so, giving you confidence when speaking to journalists and doing interviews.

If you’re interested in becoming an ambassador for community pharmacy and giving effective interviews to the press, please come along! The training would also be suitable for anyone already giving press interviews but who would like to strengthen their skills.

This training session will cover:

  • Engaging the media – why engage and what are journalists looking for?
  • Top tips for interviews – good v bad technique and how to prepare
  • Key messages – current state of pharmacy, key milestones, what needs to change, and how to talk about your pharmacy
  • Training sessions (workshop groups)
  • Sharing learnings – insights from pharmacists with media experience and lessons learned from the groups
  • Next steps – how else can we help you?

Date and time: Monday 24th June, 7-9pm

Location: Online (once registered you will be sent a link to join virtually)

This event is aimed at pharmacy owners and will be limited to 70 spaces. Please note, the registration will close at 3pm on the day of the event (and earlier if capacity is reached).
