Funding for community pharmacy technician apprenticeship programme 2025

NHS England has announced that the community pharmacy technician apprenticeship programme has launched for 2025. The programme supports Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) to complete a 24-month apprenticeship in community pharmacy.

Funding offer and application support

Successful applicants will receive a training contribution of £15,053 per trainee, per year for two years to support their pharmacy to develop a PTPT programme which meets the General pharmaceutical council initial education and training standards for pharmacy technicians and the NHS England Education Quality Framework.

The application window is open until Sunday 15th June 2025. Pharmacy owners interested in accessing this funding, will need to submit an expression of interest online application form.

NHS England is holding a series of national stakeholder engagement meetings via Microsoft Teams to provide more information on the programme, including the application process and how to access apprenticeship funding. Pharmacy owners can use the links below to attend their preferred date and need only attend one meeting date.

Pharmacy owners can also access guidance that provides information on the programme, eligibility criteria, timelines, and funding.
