Have you completed our Pharmacy Advice Audit yet?

THIS CONTENT HAS NOW EXPIRED

We are asking as many community pharmacy teams as possible to take part in our Pharmacy Advice Audit.

The audit aims to help demonstrate how pharmacies are supporting their communities every day and provide critical evidence for use in our ongoing call for more funding. Your participation will also help us quantify and further understand any ‘halo effect’ in driving more people to pharmacies for health care information and advice that does not meet the gateway criteria for paid Pharmacy First consultations.

Pharmacy teams are requested to carry out the audit on just a single day and, once completed, submit their data to us via PharmOutcomes.

We hope to receive data from as many pharmacy teams as possible to build a strong evidence base. The results of the audit will be of great benefit to our ongoing call for more funding, as well as in our wider conversations with politicians and election candidates, and in national media work.

Zoe Long, Director of Communications, Corporate and Public Affairs at Community Pharmacy England, said:

“Thank you to all pharmacy teams who have already taken part in this important audit – your data provides essential evidence which we will make good use of in our influencing work and future funding negotiations. If your pharmacy has not yet taken part, please do consider this if you are able to. The evidence provided by audits like this is critical in helping us to make the case for the sector, and that has never been more important than this year, as we work to ensure the work around Pharmacy First is fully accounted for.”

How to take part

To successfully complete the audit, pharmacy teams will need to:

  1. Record patient/customer interactions where:
    1. advice was given by either a non-pharmacist team member and/or a pharmacist AND
    2. the consultation is not covered by the Pharmacy First service.
  2. Carry this out across a full working day, recording all consultations.
  3. Estimate the percentage of consultations that were recorded (this is to recognise that some consultations may be missed).
  4. When all consultations have been completed, enter the data on PharmOutcomes.

Further information and resources, including a template for data entry, can be found at: cpe.org.uk/adviceaudit

Support the call for more funding by recording information about the informal advice you provide to patients over just one day.
