Description
Community pharmacy teams will screen and provide one to one support and advice to people over 16 years of age. The service will assess drinking level in all service users, and provide brief interventions to motivate them to take positive action and help them modify their drinking patterns.
Community pharmacy teams will make a direct referral to the children and young people’s specialist service ‘Compass Reach’ for all those service users aged 16-18 with an AUDIT score of 8+.
Community pharmacy teams will make a direct referral to the specialist alcohol service ‘North Yorkshire Horizons Single’ for all service users 19+ identified as dependent drinkers – i.e. those scoring AUDIT 20+.
Community pharmacy teams will screen service users over 16 years of age using the World Health Organization (WHO) approved Alcohol Use Disorders Identified Test (AUDIT) questionnaire in line with NICE guidelines.
