Description
Aims and objectives of service
The aim of the service is to increase prompt access for patients who require antiviral
medication for influenza treatment/prophylaxis.
“In season” flu -- when national surveillance indicates that influenza virus is circulating
generally in the community.
“Out of season” flu -- outside the periods when national surveillance indicates that
influenza virus is circulating generally in the community, there are no fixed dates.
