Description
This service aims to provide a service available to all patients in all locations and to reduce the need for out of hours treatment and/ or hospitalisation, with the aim of providing the best level of care for the patient. The pharmacy will provide information and advice to the parent or carer in line with the locally agreed childhood gastroenteritis care guidelines/ pathway (Appendix 1).
The pharmacy holds the specified medicines required to deliver this service and will dispense (and re-order) these in response to an NHS prescription presented.
Pharmacies must keep one full pack of each of the following in stock:
- Ondansetron 4mg/5ml solution x 50ml bottle
- Ondasetron 4mg lyophilisates (Zofran Melts) x 10 tablets (If Zofran Melts not available Ondansetron films may be used)
