Service outline
The local service will fund pharmacies to stock and supply anti-viral medication to high-risk
patients with COVID-19 under a Patient Specific Direction following clinical triage by a
prescribing clinician.
Aims and intended service outcomes
• To improve the access and efficiency of supply of oral antivirals for the treatment of
COVID-19 to eligible patients.
• To offer support and advice to patients and their carers on the oral anti-viral
medication supplied to treat COVID-19.
• Act as a point of contact for patients during their course of treatment and liaise with
the CMDU service as deemed appropriate
