4.2.1 Service aim
The aim of the service is to improve access to and availability of EHC to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies and the number of abortions.
4.2.2 Products
Two types of EHC are available under this scheme:
· Ulipristal Acetate;
· Levonorgestrel.

Training
Pharmacists must undergo the following training before providing the service:
- Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) Emergency Hormonal Contraception e-learning and assessment;
- CPPE Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults e-learning and assessment; and
- National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Competency Framework for Health Professionals using PGDs.
