Description
The aim of the service is to increase access to sexual health services in Kirklees in order to reduce unintended pregnancies and improve sexual health. In addition the services will increase knowledge of the consequences of risky sexual behaviour by providing information and advice as appropriate on sexual health issues including STIs, avoiding unplanned pregnancy, contraception and delaying sex (as appropriate).
The service will also improve awareness of the range of sexual health services available in the area. Specifically, the services will comprise: a consultation, information and advice, signposting to other services, provision of emergency hormonal contraception (EHC), pregnancy testing, Chlamydia screening and provision of condoms.
Pregnancy testing and chlamydia screening are included within the sexual health Local Enhanced Service although they can be offered independently of EHC supply.
Condoms are not paid for through this Public Health Contract but should be obtained through the locally commissioned C-card and condom distribution scheme.
