Description
Pharmacists will supply levonorgestrel or ulipristal emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) free of charge when appropriate to clients aged 25 and under in line with the requirements of a locally agreed Patient Group Directions (PGD).
The pharmacist will supply free condoms to the client at point of assessment. These are provided free by BTHFT condom scheme.
The pharmacy will provide:
- support and advise to clients accessing the service, including advice on the avoidance of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through safer sex and condom use;
- onward signposting for further advice, diagnosis and management of STIs;
- advice on the use of regular contraceptive methods including Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARCs); and
- onward signposting where appropriate to services that provide regular contraceptive methods including LARCs.
