Description
The pharmacy will provide advice and support to people on the management of minor ailments, including where necessary, the supply of medicines for the treatment of the minor ailment, for conditions listed in the pharmacy minor ailments pack.
The CCG has agreed the groups of people who are eligible to receive treatment under the scheme and the access route to the service as follows:
- Voucher – patients can access the scheme using a voucher. Patients will present at the GP practice, A&E at UHL or other healthcare professional who is participating in the scheme, where the condition is minor under the criteria of the scheme, patients can be given a voucher to present at the local pharmacy. The practice will complete the part of the voucher which is shaded. The pharmacist will complete the remaining part of the voucher including presenting symptoms. The pharmacist will decide the appropriate medication under the scheme to be dispensed against the voucher unless presented with an optometry minor eye conditions scheme voucher where a product recommendation is made. Medication supplied will be recorded on the web-based database.
- The pharmacist can assess the patient and issue medication under the scheme without a voucher and this consultation should be recorded on the web-based data management system.
