Description

The pharmacy will provide a range of injecting equipment as deemed appropriate by the purchaser following national legislation and local policy in packs with written information on harm reduction (for example, on safer injecting or overdose prevention), plus provision for referral on to One Recovery Staffordshire (for example, vaccinations, drug treatment and secondary care).

The pharmacy will provide an introduction of the scheme and explain the rationale behind the needle exchange service to customers, as well as issuing information leaflets regarding services on offer.

Training

On induction to the service, the pharmacy will be given an Induction Pack consisting of harm reduction information, advice leaflets and a list of appropriate contact details and One Recovery Staffordshire will provide updates as required.

Staff must attend infection prevention and control training annually. An infection prevention self audit assessment will be provided by One
Recovery Staffordshire on an annual basis.
