Services Database NHS Community Pharmacy Emergency Supply Service (Across Norfolk & Suffolk – 2 LPCs involved)

Please note this service is commissioned across Norfolk and some parts of Suffolk that are covered within the Great Yarmouth & Waveney CCG area. Therefore, the following LPCs have the same emergency supply service in their areas:

• Norfolk LPC
• Suffolk LPC

The service has only been added onto the Services Database under this entry to avoid duplication.

The purpose of the Community Pharmacy Emergency Supply Service is to ensure that patients can access an urgent supply of their regular prescription medicines where they are unable to obtain a prescription before they need to take their next dose. The service may be needed because the patient has run out of a medicine, or because they have lost or damaged their medicines, or because they have left home without them. The aim of this service is to relieve pressure on urgent and emergency care services.

This agreement is for the following bank holidays and the associated weekends:

• 14th April 2017
• 1st May 2017
• 29th May 2017
• 28th August 2017 Monday Summer bank holiday
• 25th December 2017 Monday Christmas Day
• 26th December 2017 Tuesday Boxing Day
• 1st January 2018 Monday New Year’s Day
• 30th March 2018 Friday Good Friday
• 2nd April 2018 Easter Monday

This agreement is for all the week ends from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018.

The pharmacy contractor has a duty to ensure that pharmacists involved in the provision of the service have relevant knowledge and are appropriately trained in the operation of the service.
