Description
All participating pharmacists will provide a professional consultation service for patients requesting access to the Pharmacy First scheme, presenting with one of the specified conditions.
The pharmacist will assess the patient’s condition. The consultation will consist of:
- a patient assessment by the pharmacist;
- provision of advice as laid out in the protocol for the appropriate minor ailment; and
- provision of medicine(s), only if necessary, from the agreed formulary appropriate to the patient’s condition.

It is a condition of the agreement between NHS Nottingham City CCG and the pharmacy, that the pharmacist and any locum pharmacy staff should complete, within six months of commencement of the scheme, the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) pack for minor ailments.
