Please note this service is commissioned by the NHS England North Midlands Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire team. Therefore, the following LPCs have the same service in their areas:
- Derbyshire LPC; and
- Nottinghamshire LPC.
NHS England has developed a pilot service for Nottingham and Derbyshire contractors that is an extension to the current minor ailments service.
The Community Pharmacy Service, Pharmacy First Extended Care Pilot for Ear, Nose & Throat aims to provide eligible patients who are registered with a GP practice contracted to NHS England North Midlands Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire area with access to medication for the treatment of the following:
- acute otitis externa;
- acute otitis externa with suspected secondary infection;
- acute otitis media;
- acute bacterial sinsitis;
- chronic sinusitis and seasonal allergic rhinitis;
- sore throat; and
- acute bacterial conjunctivitis (where treatment under the Pharmacy First Common Ailments Scheme is not appropriate.
This provides an alternative location from which patients can seek advice and treatment, rather than seeking treatment via a prescription from their GP, out of hours (OHH) provider, walk-in centre or accident and emergency.
