Description
Purpose of the Agreement
2.1 To maintain an agreed stock of palliative care medicines and provision of the service during the opening hours of the pharmacy.
2.2 To provide advice on palliative care drugs and services to patients, carers and clinicians.
2.3 To take responsibility for identifying an alternative pharmacy/ or requesting an alternative medicine (in the case of national shortages) for the patient or carer, to avoid undue stress and time spent trying to obtain a supply of the prescribed medicines.

Training
4.1 The pharmacy will nominate a lead pharmacist who will participate in any training arranged by the NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Knowsley Place.
4.2 The lead pharmacist must have completed the CPPE open learning palliative care pack (latest edition) and all other pharmacists and technicians involved in providing the service should be encouraged to do so as well.
4.3 The lead pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring that all staff working in the pharmacy, including locums, are adequately trained to provide this service
