Services Database Seasonal Influenza Vaccination 2014-15 (Parts of Surrey & Sussex Area – 3 LPCs Involved)

Service ID

19252

Description

Please note this service is commissioned in areas of Surrey and Sussex by the Surrey & Sussex  Area Team. Therefore, the following LPCs have the same seasonal influenza vaccination service in their areas:

  • East Sussex LPC
  • Surrey LPC
  • West Sussex LPC

The service has only been added onto the Services Database under this entry to avoid duplication.

A small pilot service for suitably experienced and trained pharmacists to administer the influenza vaccine to eligible persons in clinical at risk groups (between the age of 18 and under 65) and pregnant women for this year’s influenza season. The aim is to improve access to the influenza vaccine, especially in people of working age eligible to receive free NHS vaccinations.

The pilot scheme is being implemented in pharmacies located in areas within each CCG where there was a low or very low uptake of the influenza vaccine last year (this is based on GP practices, rather than actual population coverage). In some instances a whole town has been chosen in which to pilot the scheme, in order to allow the Area Team to evaluate the impact better.
