Description
Community pharmacies offering this sexual health service will provide the following services for young people aged 13-24:
- Levonorgestrel emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) to women between the ages of 13 and 24 years inclusive, who meet the inclusion criteria of the EHC levonorgestrel 1500 Patient Group Direction (PGD);
- a proactive offer of chlamydia screening and a chlamydia screening kit will be included in the consultation;
- signposting to services that provide reliable regular contraception and management of sexually transmitted infections;
- pharmacies will offer a 'Young People Friendly' patient centred and confidential service, providing access to up to date information for those aged 13-24; and
- verbal advice will be provided on general contraception and sexual health promotion issues, including the use of condoms to protect against sexually transmitted infections.
