Description
The purpose of this service is to cover the provision of seasonal flu immunisation to care home, nursing home and domiciliary staff in South Tyneside, South Tyneside council employees and councillors and any other groups of South Tyneside Council staff as identified by the South Tyneside Council Winter Flu Project Group.
The intended service outcome is to reduce the serious morbidity and mortality from flu infections and improve organisational resilience by immunising frontline care staff, council staff and councillors.

Training
- Have attended a formal immunisation training programme and have the necessary skills & competencies together with documented evidence of that training. This is to include vaccine administration, anaphylaxis recognition & treatment, basic life support, cold chain integrity & infection control.
- Pharmacists administering less than 30 vaccines in any preceding year must repeat full training.
- Have completed training to work under PGDs.
