Training
All Pharmacy staff (including locums) delivering the service shall successfully complete the NHS Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training’s online training and assessment for level 2 advisors (www.ncsct.co.uk). Alternatively, level 2 training can be accessed locally with forthcoming training opportunities advertised at www.publichealthdorset.org.uk.
Follow up training must be attended annually by at least one member of the pharmacy team who will if necessary cascade the messages to other members of the team who are involved in the service. This will be held as appropriate to ensure that the service is continually improved and updated. See www.publichealthdorset.org.uk for follow up training.
Pharmacists supplying varenicline via PGD are required to complete the training pack provided and make a declaration to confirm that this has been done.
