Services Database Stop Smoking and NRT Dispensing Scheme Service (Blackburn with Darwen Area)

Aims
- To provide high quality, accessible, evidence based and effective stop smoking services to
people in Blackburn with Darwen who wish to stop smoking.
- Increase the access to safe and effective pharmacological and non-pharmacological stop
smoking aids or Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT), together with quality assured behaviour
change support from community based pharmacies.
- To reduce smoking related illnesses and deaths by helping people to quit smoking.
- To improve the health of the population by reducing exposure to second-hand smoke.
- To increase the rate of achieving a successful quit attempt.

All staff involved should have completed NCSCT training, passed at both level one, two and three stage and have attached local face to face training with practical shadowing and final sign off www.ncsct.co.uk/training.

The Stop Smoking Servicewill organise on a six months basis training events for those health professionals signing up / or delivering smoking cessation.
