3.1 Aims and objectives of service
• To optimise the supply of oral antivirals, by providing safe and timely access to treatment when routine
routes of supply may cause clinically unacceptable delay.
• To ensure patients are appropriately counselled on their antiviral treatment.
• To support people, carers, and clinicians through provision of up-to-date information and advice, and
refer where appropriate.
• To reduce the risk of complications from COVID-19 and influenza.
