Services Database Take Home Naloxone (Wiltshire Area)

Scope of service 
3.1. Individuals should be issued with a take home pack of Prenoxad 1mg/ml pre-filled
syringe (2ml) injection.
3.2. Always ensure Prenoxad is the product supplied as generic versions do not contain
needles or the appropriate information leaflet and would be unable to be used in an
emergency. Prenoxad also has a licence for “use in the home or other non-medical
setting”.
3.3. Individuals at risk of an opioid overdose can receive:
• One prefilled syringe Prenoxad injection for intramuscular use: 1mg /ml pre-filled
syringe (2ml).
• One additional prefilled syringe may be issued to the individual to hold as a spare
supply if required.
• Individuals identified as family members, carers or significant others of someone at risk
of an opioid overdose can receive:
• One prefilled syringe Prenoxad injection for intramuscular use: 1mg /ml pre-filled
syringe (2ml).
