Description
The overall aim of the service is to provide treatment and advice via a minor ailments service
to patients within the boundary of NENC ICS. The service will:
- Promote self-care.
- Support local developments to promote appropriate use of antibiotics.
- Address health inequalities.
- Provide additional access in the event of a pandemic, to encourage self-care to
patients who are able to manage their own symptoms at home. - Contribute towards the reduction in demand on inappropriate attendances at GP
surgeries and Accident and Emergency (A&E). - Bring care closer to home for patients.
- Contribute towards the cost-effective use of medicines.
- Increase patient choice to access primary care in alternative settings.
- Facilitate access and support behaviour change programmes as part of the Change
for Life initiative addressing prevention and early intervention. - Make every contact a health improvement contact.
