The below tools can be used to gather information to establish the level of obesity on a local basis:
- Public Health England Obesity – Data on child obesity and excess weight at small area level: These spreadsheets provide trend data on the prevalence of excess weight (overweight including obesity) from 2010/11 to 2014/15 and obesity from 2008/09 to 2014/15
- Public Health England – Health Profiles: This tool provides a snapshot of health and wellbeing across each local authority in England as portrayed by a range of indicators. They are intended to stimulate discussion between local government and health service providers by highlighting local needs and providing comparisons with other areas as well as with the national average.
- Public Health England Obesity – Local authority (LA) adult excess weight data: Data is now available for prevalence of excess weight in adults aged 16 and over, at LA level. This data is an indicator in the Public Health Outcomes Framework Health Improvement domain. The new figures combine data from 2013, 2014 and 2015. The previous year’s figures combined three years of data from 2012, 2013 and 2014. There are also breakdowns of LA data by BMI category: underweight, healthy weight, overweight, obesity and excess weight
- Public Health England Obesity – NCMP local authority child data profile: Child obesity data from the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) 2006/07 to 2014/15 are now available in an online child obesity local authority data tool
- Public Health England Obesity – Fast food outlets by local authority: Data on density of fast food outlets by local authority are presented here in a map, along with a chart displaying the relationship between density of fast food outlets and area deprivation
