Description
This is a time limited pilot project, funded by GMHSCP (Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership). The aim of ‘Swap to Stop’ is to offer current smokers who live in deprived areas of Salford to switch to an e-cigarette, free of charge.
Pharmacies taking part in the pilot will be:
- redeeming voucher postcards from current smokers, and encouraging them to switch to an e-cigarette;
- conducting a carbon monoxide test to interested participants to confirm they are a current smoker, and at regular intervals throughout the pilot project;
- being a distribution point for participants to redeem their free e-cigartette 'starter kit' (chosen e-cig, 2 weeks’ supply of vape liquid from a range of flavours and strength), providing advice and guidance around choice of e-cigarette and vape liquid and strength; and
- offering additional stop smoking advice if required.
