Description
Contractors acting as a treatment site for the Ruclear chlamydia and gonorrhoea screening programme will:
- promote the RUClear chlamydia and gonorrhoea screening programme and communicate the importance of regular screening to young people (16-24s) accessing services from the pharmacy;
- consult with clients (index patients and their partners) attending for treatment of chlamydia and, as and when appropriate, to supply medication in accordance with the Patient Group Directions (PGDs) for azithromycin, doxycycline and/or erythromycin issued by Manchester City Council;
- ensure that clients receive information and advice about sexually transmitted infections and how to obtain sexual health screening; and
- ensure that clients receive information and advice about condoms and are offered up to 12 condoms.

Training
The contractor is required to ensure that all pharmacists participating in the treatment of chlamydia undertake relevant learning and training – e.g. CPPE modules relating to the treatment of chlamydia so they are able to complete the Declaration of Competence (DoC) for the service. Pharmacists will also be required to attend an annual briefing event organised through the Greater Manchester Sexual Health Network.
In addition, The Contractor is required to ensure that all staff (pharmacists and counter staff) involved in the distribution of Ruclear home screening kits have received on-site training from Ruclear (CMFT).
