Description
The proposed service is the universal provision of Vitamin D through the Healthy start vitamins to all pregnant and breast feeding women, mothers with children under 1 and all children until their 4th birthday ensuring the vitamins reach all at risk populations especially BME populations.
The Vitamin D products that are to be supplied to all pregnant women and to babies and children are:
- Women: Healthy start vitamin tablets containing Vitamins C and D3 and Folic acid (400 micrograms); and
- Babies and Children: Healthy Start vitamin drops containing Vitamins A, C and D3.

Training
Pharmacists who wish to offer the service should have attended a Vitamin D training course which meets competency requirements at an appropriate level. They should also have undergone child and adult protection training.
