CPCS – Funding and claiming payment
Published on: 30th October 2020 | Updated on: 12th August 2022
When a pharmacy provides the CPCS, they can claim a £14 fee per completed consultation.
This payment model will be reviewed for 2021/22 onwards, depending on factors such as volume of service.
The anticipated funding profile for the initial (NHS 111 referral) service is:
|£4 million||£9 million||£13 million||£16 million||£19 million|
GP referral pathway – Engagement and setup payment
Contractors registered to provide the CPCS can claim a £300 engagement and setup payment if they undertake a range of actions to get ready for rolling out the referral pathway in their area by 30th June 2021. The requirements are detailed in Annex F of the updated service specification and claims need to be made via the NHSBSA Manage Your Service (MYS) portal by 5th July 2021.
Claiming payment for the service
All payments must be claimed via the NHSBSA Manage Your Service (MYS) portal; no paper-based claims process is available for the service.
The CPCS IT system will be able to pre-populate claim information in MYS each month, so that the contractor then just needs to login to MYS at the start of the following month to confirm that the information is correct and to submit the claim.

The dashboard presents data on the CPCS (as well as other Advanced services) at three levels (national, LPC and individual pharmacy) for each quarter. The dashboards are based on the NHS Business Services Authority’s (NHSBSA) Dispensing Contractors’ data.

Post-payment verification (PPV) process
NHS England is responsible for monitoring the provision of Advanced Services by contractors and they have a duty to assure themselves of the quality and probity of activity provided under the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework; PPV is one way in which they undertake this monitoring.
The NHSBSA Provider Assurance team undertake PPV on behalf of NHS England.
