Resources to support local influencing work

We are deeply aware of the crisis affecting the community pharmacy sector and the funding and operational pressures on contractors, and is working hard to persuade Government to act now to help.

To support this work, we have developed a range of resources to support contractors and LPCs to influence MPs and other key political targets in line with our national messages. These include briefings to explain the current situation and guidance on writing to MPs and hosting MP visits. The resources align with our national priorities and messaging.

In particular, we are encouraging contractors and LPCs to write to their MPs outlining the severity of the funding pressures the sector is now facing and the impact it will have on patients if it continues.

Our Chief Executive Janet Morrison said: “It is unacceptable for the costs and capacity pressures on the sector to continue – what’s not good for pharmacies is not good for patients or the wider NHS. The Government needs to hear this message loud and clear – if the squeeze continues the consequences will be dire.”
